Festo DHAS Adaptive Fin-Ray Gripper

The Festo DHAS adaptive gripper finger is a bionic end-effector accessory that uses the Fin Ray Effect, modelled on a fish tail fin, to achieve compliant form-fitting grips on irregularly shaped or delicate workpieces. Two flexible polyurethane bands connected by spaced flex-hinge ribs allow the finger to automatically conform to the object surface, distributing contact force across a large area while combining positive locking and friction gripping simultaneously. The fingers are available in three lengths (60 mm, 80 mm, 120 mm), mount onto Festo HGPL-14 long-stroke parallel grippers via the DHAS-MA bracket and DHAS-ME mounting kit, and require a minimum jaw stroke of 10 mm per side. They are FDA-listed, RoHS-compliant, free of copper and PTFE, and weigh between 6.5 g and 29 g per finger, making them suitable for food handling, pharmaceutical, and lightweight pick-and-place automation.
